First steps

CAICHAT.AI is a platform for roleplay stories with AI characters. You pick a character from the catalog or create your own, and the story unfolds in the chat: the character replies, remembers details and stays in role.

🔑 Signing up

You can browse the catalog without an account, but you need to log in to message characters.

  1. Click or at the top of the left menu.

  2. Choose a way that suits you:

    • email and password;
    • — a sign-in link is sent to your email, no password needed;
    • — one-click sign-in.

  3. Accept the community guidelines and confirm that you are 18 or older. The site shows the “Community Guidelines Agreement” window right after sign-up or when you first open a character. Tick the three items and click Start Chatting.

  4. Verify your email: open the email from CAICHAT and follow the link. If it isn’t there, check your spam folder or click Resend again — you can request another email after 60 seconds.

🔎 Find a character

There are two ways:

  • — all public characters with tag filters, sorting and ready-made collections at the top of the page. The catalog is the first thing you see when you open caichat.ai.
  • — describe the story you want in your own words, for example “strict boss in the office” or “space odyssey”, and the search finds matching characters.

💬 Start a chat

Section titled “💬 Start a chat”

  1. Open a character’s card. It has the description, the author’s note, tags and discussions.

  2. If the character has several greetings, choose the the story starts with.

  3. Choose a — who you will be in this story. A new account already has two starter personas, Henry and Emma; you can change them or create your own. See Personas.

  4. Check the . The site preselects one of the pairs: the one the creator recommends (), the one CAICHAT recommends (), or the one you used recently. The model card shows whether it is free and its memory size, for example 4K or 16K. To choose a pair, click the under the model. For other models, use . More in Models and behavior.

  5. Optionally tick — add-ons for the chat, such as character thoughts. Some of them are paid. See Extensions.

  6. Click .

  7. Type your first message in the and send it with or the Enter key.

✍️ How to write for a better story

Section titled “✍️ How to write for a better story”
  • Describe actions. Put the cursor in the message field and an Action button appears above it. It inserts asterisks * *. The text between them is shown in italics and treated as an action: *opens the door and looks inside*.
  • Write in detail. The more detail about your actions, emotions and surroundings, the livelier the character’s reply.
  • Don’t like a reply? Regenerate it. The button under the character’s last message creates a new version. Switch between versions with the arrows.
  • Steer the story with commands. A line starting with /cmd is an instruction for the AI, not a line spoken by your character. For example: /cmd describe the surroundings in more detail.
